On 26th July 2010, Sonning Hockey Club Junior section, one of the first clubs in Berkshire to be awarded the ClubsFirst accreditation, along with Club President Edward Butler, welcomed the England Hockey Board to their home astro at Berkshire Sports Club, Sonning Lane, Reading.

A junior training session, organised by Sonning Head Junior Coach, Chris Hinton, was specially arranged to help the England Hockey Board (EHB) film some short video clips to form part of their new online ‘Safeguarding and Protecting Young People in Hockey’ course.

Sally Munday (EHB’s CEO), was delighted with the support from Sonning Hockey club adding “it is wonderful for the EHB, based in Bisham, Marlow, to be able to work with our accredited clubs, to ensure that these courses appeal to and are directed at the real people on the ground”.

Young players of Sonning HC created a typical hockey club training session to form part of the background shots for the videos. Sally Munday and Richard Mantell (England and GB International) then filmed the main sequences, all being compiled to be part of the online training course.
