Sonning 4’s v Milton Keynes
Leaving plenty of time to content with the M25 roadwork’s 13 of us made the unenviable trek to Milton Keynes. At least the weather seemed to be on our side this week even if it turned out that the umpires were not to be !!!
Milton Keynes started the brighter side creating plenty of space for themselves and shooting as soon as the ball crossed into the D , aided by the umpire who threaten to card Sally within 3 minutes they certainly got their share of short corners but Sonning’s defence managed to keep them out for a while .It wasn’t going to be a day for forwards to get much of the action unless it was in helping to keep Milton Keynes from launching yet another attack . By the break we were 3 -0 down .
During the half time talk we drew a line under the first half and were all pumped up to take on the 13 opposition and at least come away with a goal to show for our travels . Our midfield had much more influence on the game in the second half and a few chances were created to get a goal back but Milton Keynes scored again to make it 4 . Never did we give up and after a thumping hit out from the back got through their defence an excellent goal was scored by Laura G .
Back to their clubhouse for what they call teas , wait till they do the return fixture at Sonning we’ll show them how to do teas !!! With a horrid journey back due to torrential rain and heavy traffic at least we all had a night out to look forward to.
