Firstly I’d like to thank Matt ‘tufty’ Sellwood for doing a great job as men’s club captain over the past couple of years. I hope to carry on the tireless work (I think) Matt has done in that time.

With the new restructure many clubs are finding themselves in new waters facing new opposition from different league and clubs in the region. Some teams face an uphill challenge with the restructure and 08/09 for some clubs was the most important for the past 5 years. Sonning were no exception.

Who are we?

Sonning HC are one of the only clubs growing in the South of England, being the first club in Berkshire to attain club first accreditation, and having been noted for its festival persona throughout the league season. The objective for the men’s section at Sonning Hockey club for this coming season are going to be various with the new league restructure.

For 09/10 Sonning have been very fortunate in securing John Shaw as coach for the Men’s 1st ‘s & 2nd’s squads. We’ve gained some new blood already who have helped Sonning win the Thames Valley summer league at Reading HC again whilst retaining the Berkshire county cup. These new players are helping strengthen the club throughout the teams
